COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Job Summary:
The Commercial Manager will play a key role in overseeing the commercial and financial aspects of our construction projects. Responsible for managing all cost control, and risk management throughout the project, from pre-construction to handover. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, senior management and clients to ensure the efficient delivery of projects and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the commercial performance of construction projects.
• Prepare and manage financial forecasts and cost reports.
• Provide advice and guidance on contractual matters, risk management, and legal implications.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project.
• Manage the procurement process, ensuring the selection of the right sub-contractors.
• Prepare reports on project progress such as financial performance and any issues requiring attention.
• Ensure that all commercial documentation is accurately prepared and maintained.
• Lead change management processes and assess the financial impact of variations and claims.
• Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure satisfaction and resolve any commercial issues.

Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and project finance.
• Experience with cost management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are advantageous.
• Knowledge of construction software and tools (e.g., Construction Manager, ConQuest) as advantageous.
